Very nice. How 'bout some under-pics? I'm getting ready to do the same thing, but I think I'll keep my heat.

Lookin good! If your car feels faster, it's not the SSIs and the weight. It's the Carbon Fiber Airbox cover.

Comander Perry,
What material did you use on your fan and fan housing? Did the Megnecor wires work out well for ya? Thanks,

911SC Engine bay
To all; the fan and housing are beadblasted (natural) and clear-coated. The plug wires are from our host, fit perfectly and work great. Believe it or not the air box cover actually does improve CIS throttle response and non-Porsche tech people love it. This is a summer toy and global warming is a reality in the great white north so I don't need heat. I will try and post some floor angle views later this week. Thanks for the compliments.

No not a Fram. It is Purolator oil filter given to me by a co-worker with 3 Porsches (911, 914-6 and 928).

Now give it back and get a Mahle or Porsche filter instead! Nice job on the engine bay "cleanup"! I found that "Goo Gone" (i.e. specifically, not some other like Goof Off), along with some heat works fairly well in removing that dried glue from the engine sound pad (it's still a real PITA though).

911 SC posting mistake
Won tough crowd, no it is not garden hose. It is reinforced PVC chemical hose and holds up well for hot oil vapors. Go to any pro race and you will see it being used for vent lines on oil tanks, etc. It should not be used for a suction line on a pump. KC I do have a correct black Mahle oil filter in the garage for my next oil change so you can rest easy. Anyway thanks for the glue removal tip, I need to add it to my winter project list.

2nd on the crappy glue look showing on the bare fire wall, tsk tsk..........I put in a silver quilted sound pad and it really dresses up the engine compartment. Much better than the ratty black ones.

Dave,
I'm thinking of doing the same thing, can you post a pix or two to show your firewall insulation? I was told today that there's two 6 mm holes on the underside of the rear shelf that you could use to help support the insulation on the horizontal part of the firewall. This is the area where the insulation falls down. You could either use a large fender washer or put an aluminum or S.S. strip across the bottom of the shelf to support the insulation.

Won,
I've read that opening up the air box doesn't create any go power, just good noises. Here's a thread on mods including air boxes. '88 911 3.2 Performance upgrades?

do a search for "backdated heat" and you can restore the heat. the fan moves air through the exchangers with some older type add ons. you can maintain your engine bay as it is now with this mod. try parts heaven, i think they are producing the stuff needed for this "upgrade".

Toby, Very nice...
What did you use on the trailing arms and underside to get it so clean? Does anybody know what the difference in noise levels are with or without the sound pad insulation?
