Carrera fresh air blower replacement?

On a similar thread, there has been at least two different suitable replacements found for the rear heater blower motor. However, I haven't been able to find anything on the fresh air blower (under the front hood). I haven't been able to find a replacement. I bought a used motor last year but it has already failed on me. I'm trying to find a more robust replacement, but haven't had any luck so far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

The problem with the motors is that the bearings get tight from exposure to moisture then the brushes melt. I also bought a used one that was broken but fixed my old motor using a non melted brush from the one i bought and freed up the bearings and it works well again. Id say as soon as your blower starts not working so well take it apart and check the bearings before you melt the brushes. As for a different type of blower thats hard to say because its sortof specialized unlike the engine compartment blower which has all the room in the engine compartment to fit an off brand unit

I fitted one last year.

I bought it from Berlyn Services in North Wales, UK.

Telephone 0044 1492 583993. www.partsforporsche.co.uk.

Cost was 39 GBP plus postage.

Hope this helps.

How do you guys remove the c-clips that hold the blower housing together?

Bill in OKC, very carefully... I used a small flat head screwdriver and placed a rag over the assembly. I would say a pair of safety glasses are just as important as anything else. I would do my best to do it to where it wouldn't hit anything of importance if it did 'get away from you'.

I am NOT looking forward to taking it apart again. It wasn't hard, but my back really didn't like stretching and being twisted around that much.

3164cc, do you happen to have the part number for the motor Berlyn? Do you know who the manufacturer is? The obvious problem is the exchange rate for us in the US, along with shipping.

Thanks,
Mike

I got the clips off with a dental pick pretty easily. Its way harder to get tem back on especially on the nubs without the flat spots.

Mike.

The part number is BOS0130.007.002. It is described as "Fresh air motor 911, - 89. My invoice does not give the manufacturer's name.

If you look on the Berlyn website it is on the first page under "Electrical".

Since fitting it I have not had any problems with it.

Richard.
