Need Help/Info with VIN/Body Number
After many Porsche-less years, I'm back, this time driving an '85 Carrera Coupe. While tinkering around last night, I noticed what I think may be an anomaly, but maybe not.
The car's VIN is WP0AB091xFSxxxxxx on the two pillars indicating a 1985 US-market car if I read it right. The imprint on the floor of the trunk though reads WP0ZZZ91xFSxxxxxx indicating a ROW body? Same numbers but ZZZ in place of AB0. Anyone have insight on the difference or are all the US cars that way? Thanks. |

OK--I think there is almost no question that has been asked and answered here. After doing what I should have done in the first place and searched the forum first for an answer--I came across this from Will Ferch back in January, 2004:
"The bodies all come off one asembly line...and the bodies don't know if they'll end up in USA, Japan, or Europe....so the ZZZ is common to all the bodies...." |
