Door Seal Question

When installing the door seals do the holes go on the outside where you can see them or inside next to body? Also I notice there is a hard rubber corner in the seal but its on the same exact spot on both seals (cab door seals) what is it there for?

thnx

myrddin,

I have only replaced my door seals once with the new kind (like yours) and as I recall they are the same seal for both sides thus on one side the holes will face out, and on the other side the holes will face in. As far as the hard rubber corner, I believe it goes at the top of the door jamb, at the corner of the lock post/quarter window.

Well, I am certain the OEM seals I got were 'mirror images' ...not alike.

The holes go out ... so the seal can breathe/compress/expand.

I don't think there should be a corner on cab seals, since there is no window frame. See the PET illustration at this link.

My only experience is with coupe seals. For those, the seal shape is squared off and firm on one side, rounded and squishy with holes on the other. The square firm side is inserted (glued) into the channel around the door. The squishy side with holes faces out -- on both doors.

Hope this helps.

Joe

There were 2 hard corners on my coupe seal. Upper rear and lower front. Holes are up.
