Speedometer removal

HiSmileWavy

I am having a problem of removing the speedometer of my 1974 911S. The speedometer cable isnt long enough for the speedometer to bee pulled out of the dashboard? And I'm having trouble to remove the speedometer "holding nut" without getting it out, as I can't find enough room behing the dashoboard to use a plier...:)
Tried to pull the speedometer cable free to make it "longer" but to no use!

Any tips would be appreciated!

I'm not certain when they changed mounting systems. My '69 may not be the same as your '74 . My instruments have clamps and nuts that MUST be removed from the back side before the piece will slide out the front.

You might try removing the speedometer cable at the trans. to get more length.

If I'm not mistaken, remove the clock next to it and reach in and disconnect the speedometer cable. Hope that does the trick. Gary
