8-point Rollcage
Hi all,
If this has been posted, please direct me to the correct link. I'm looking from an experienced roll cage designer to design an 8-point roll cage for my 1977 911. The cage should extend fully from the cab to the rear suspension points and to the rear frame and from the cab to the front suspension points to the front frame. I'm also looking for a lower bar style in the side doors rather than the large x-style that you need to be a contortionist to get into. I have the tools to build my own and am not concerned about the work, just want to make sure I have a properly designed cage with all bend angles, lengths, tubing specifications, etc. If someone has this that they can supply, preferably with pictures, that would be fantastic. If someone out there is experienced at designing this for me at a fee, let me know purplxd@gmail.com Cheers Aaron |

Safety devices sells a pre-bent cage that 'just' need fitting and welding. It is similar to the factory 'cup' cages.

Hi there,
Yes, I've looked into these options and I have contacted them before. The do not offer any cages that are true 8-point and connect to the front and rear suspension points to the interior cage. I know, the option is there to purchase this cage and weld in extensions to be a true 8-point cage, and that may be the option I need to go. However, since I have the tools, I figured it may be more cost effective if someone here could provide me with specific designs that I could just build myself. I've seen a lot of great cages on this site via pictures, but they don't help me with the specific dimensions I'm looking for. Sorry, project manager by trade so I always like lots of details and specifics. ![]() Cheers Aaron |

you are asking cage builders to share information that they worked hard for. I have a feeling you will have a hard time coming up with what you are looking for, but I could be wrong.

if you want to see the latest tricks in cage design look at the current production car racers. it does not need to be a porsche 911 to see the basic details that are currently being used. with most race car cages being designed with solid modeling software and tested in the computer the details are what make the difference over the usual cages. i think wrc and lemans type cars have the latest cage designs and i'm sure the details can be adapted to a 911 cage.

You may have luck just finding a local cage builder in your area to help you with it depending on where you live. Or find some local guys with race cars already built to get some ideas from where their cages were built.
