1970 911 Transmission / Clutch Fork - Help

I've been chasing a clutch issue on my 1970 push clutch where the clutch mechanism "sticks" for a brief second when I begin to release the cable. Resulting in an abrupt pop into gear and a quick start.

I've spent a ton of time adjusting the new cable to no avail.

Finally decided to drop the motor and RI the transmission.

It looks like the PO put an updated pivot on the trans, but is this amount of play normal? I'm going to have the guide on the side plate fixed, but it did not cause enough deflection to result in adverse engagement.

Thank you in advance!

Ditto on the missing spring plate and also be sure to put some grease on the pivot bolt.

Thank you for the feedback. I have the spring plate and conical washer installed in the video reference.

In this order: spring plate against trans > conical washed > fork

Wrong. Trans, washer, spring, fork, bolt. If the flywheel was resurfaced and much meat was removed, another THIN washer is installed under the original washer, against the bellhousing.

Thank you, John. I've seen part diagrams both ways oddly enough. Swapping spring and washer. This one has spring first.

Yes, the amount of play shown on the video is normal. The play will be taken up and eliminated when you attached the tranny to the engine and rotate the ears on the throw out bearing into position.
