Not that kind of wind...
![]() I have noticed that I get alot of wind noise and turbulant air when driving my 911 on the motorway/freeway. I have a lhd car and i get alot of turbulance around the back of the door window frame. Is this normal? Do you guys have this issue or is there something I can do? Al

These are old cars with horrible (by modern standards) aerodynamics, hence they generate a fair amount of wind noise. Then as the seals age, they lose effectiveness, and the car gets noisier. My solution is a loud sport muffler and no sound deadening on the firewall - now I can't hear the wind noise!

Do the dollar bill test. Close the door on dollar folded lengthwise. Slide the bill and try to find the gap. If the top rear window frame is not sealing, lower the door glass and gently bend the top rear door frame inward. Reference it to the rear 1/4glass before you start. Go at it slowly as it bends in slightly and should seal if that is indeed the leaking area. DO NOT do this with the window up/closed!
![]() Bending the door top slightly often works better than messing with the door striker. This assumes your door weatherstrip is intact and resilient. |

The SC has an extra seal - not sure re your year.
Get an experienced mechanic or owner of multiple cars to ride along and see if your car is "normal for a 911" or worse. There are numerous upgrades in either case - detailed in various threads. I'd start w/ the cheap & easy stuff. A Dane-like rain gutter removal would be last on my list. Other stuff in between. A stehoscope can help you hunt down ingress locations also. Thanks guys... I'll try seals and some light bending of the frame.
