Correct black paint for 69E dash gauge surround???
I've got to repaint the gauge binnacle and dash face on my 69E.
Looking for a recommendation on what black to use.

Good question, the black paint in my '70 911T is getting thin after 37 years too.

I used a 'rattle can' ... "Krylon Semi-Flat Black".
If you are not doing a concourse rebuild, it's close enough.

+1 on the Krylon Semi-flat. I think it looks pretty good on my car. You may also look into Wurth satin black. I seem to recall that others have used this. If you really want to make sure you use the right thing, you might want to post on the Early S board. I'm sure someone there can provide a 3-D model of the correct paint molecules!

wurth matt black lacquer duplicates it pretty well. works on wheel centers and targa bars too. but the krylon is real close and way easier to find.

thanks for the input. I'll see what I can find in both of them and do some testing, post some shots.

SEM Trim paint is a nice match.

Best match is Rust-oleum Satin Black #7777. Available everywhere.
Dash, Targa bar, Fuchs centers... |
