'70T Dash Instruments & Oil question
I have a 1970 911T with stock 2.2 and Weber carbs. I'm in the process of restoring this car. Occasionally a red light on the oil pressure dash instrument comes on, typically after running awhile, but sometimes sooner. My operators manual does not describe what the function of this light is, nor do any of the other Porsche repair manuals or Haynes manuals. I am attaching a picture (poor quality, hope - the light I am referring to is just above word "oil" on the center instrument in the Picture. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this indicator light means? When the light comes on, the oil pressure reads fine as does the temperature and oil level, Appreciate any insight you all might be able to offer as to the function of this light and what it might mean.

Jeff,
That lamp can be illuminated by two brake-related problems ... Emergency-brake handle being pulled up off its' rest, or a warning switch on the master cylinder has been triggered, either by an actual failure in one of the circuits [usually the rear circuit, since that is the seal closest to abrasive dirt from the outside world, i.e., pedal box] in the hydraulic system, or by bleeding the brakes improperly. |
Well,
I know my master cylendar is on it's last leg, so that's probably why the light comes on. Thanks for the guidance! Jeff |
