Cayenne Questions
Ok new to the whole Porsche thing and need a couple things done before RIV inspection.
1. How do I convert the electronic Speedo to KM/hr from Miles/hr? 2. What is the best way to go about setting up some Daytime Running Lights? Should I go to a Porsche dealer and have it done or is there a simple home fix to make it work? 3. What about a block heater? what am I looking at to have it installed? 2006 Cayenne S Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Cheers |
Wrong forum...might want to repost.
On #3, I guarantee you can buy and install a block heater way cheaper than your dealership. Cheers, Paul. |
Hey CWolff, I think you posted to the wrong forum - this is the 911 tech forum, but I can still help you out a bit. Though I should say I know squat about Cayenne's, I'm assuming some basic things are pretty similar to other modern Porsches. The tips below refer to 911s and boxsters - I'm guessing it's the same for Cayennes.
1. The electronic speedo is easily switched over by turning the dial in the gauge to the left for 6 seconds. You can go back and forth quite easily like this. 2. Daytime running lights are an easy install - just a matter of a relay. A Porsche dealer can do it, and they'll take you to the cleaners for parts and labour. Find a good independent shop to do it. My 99 boxster cost $75 or so, parts and labour. 3. Block heater - can't help you there, sorry! Remember, for RIV inspection you'll also need a recall clearance letter and also French airbag stickers, though the airbag stickers are often overlooked (I completely forgot about it, and he just ticked it off on the checklist, didn't care at all). You'll also need to make sure the child seat tethers meet CDN regulations. I don't know the details of this - the boxster was exempt because it's a 2-seater. Hope this helps! Chris |
My apologies on the wrong posting spot. Thanks for the info and will try posting this correctly.
