86-89 Cabrio, was the "power" top an option?

Found an 87 cab that the owner told me was not power but manually operated top, is this correct?
I thought they "all" came with power folding top standard.

Though I like the power, the lack and hassle free of a manual top is bonus!!

Just want to know if this was an option or if he's pulling my leg.

Thanks

Yes the power top was on option.
I think it became standard in 88 and 89.

I know quite a few people that have the power top (including myself), and it is not a problem. It does not have any reliabilities issues other than having some extra parts.

I think if you get one with a power top, you will use it a lot more.....

I have an '87 with a manual top. It isn't a big deal folding it down manually. I guess the hardest part is reaching across the backseat to unzip the rear window before folding the top back. Even if I had a power top, I would most likely do this anyway...

Guys,

Thanks so much for the info.

If it had a power top great, if not, great.
I wanted to make sure that the PO didn't pull all the motors and cables.

Do I assume to clarify, the power top latches on automatically and the manual top has the two latches on the top panel above the windshield?

The top folded back great.

BTW, The car only has 45k on the clock and drives beautiful, hopefully will join you guys in proud ownership!

Thanks again for the quick response!!!

The manual top has 2 manual latches above the windshield. My routine to drop the top is to unzip the rear window (not necessary on a warm day, but I like the idea of the plastic window laying flat), unlatch the two latches above the windshield (probably unnecessary but there is a hand "pocket" next to the latch, I pull down on that before unlatching or latching), then I get out of the car and fold the top back. To put up, I do everything in the reverse order. The only thing the manual top prevents is putting the top down while waiting at a red light...
