New Rims and Lowered 19" AVUS.

After waiting 2 months I finally got my 3 pcs AVUS wheels assembled and put on the car, what do you think?

I know many are not in favor of 19" wheels but it is my personal taste, plus they fill the fender's perfect

19" X 9" Front
19" X 12" Rear

A little rubbing from the rear at first but I was able to take a file to the edges.

I think those look sweet.
Maybe post a side shot?

993's and newer seem to be able to wear 18's and even 19's very well. I think the wheel well shape is just so that they "fit".

In for a side shot out in the sunlight. That's a pretty nice shine on that car too!

As promised here are some side views, I was able to fix the rubbin problem on the fenders but when upgrading to the turbo tie rods my car now pulls to the right and my alignment is way out of wack. Will need to find a good Porsche shop in Tampa and bring it it for corner balancing and alignment. Just some things that can not be done in by eye..

Thanks Jeremy, Dave White/Vortex is less than 3~4 miles from me so I will probably go with them, problem is I leave to go out of town next week and do not want the car to sit in the shop for a month so I guess I will just have to take care of this when I return. Sucks always being on the go, never have time to work on the Porsche

Nice car - you'll have to come to come to one of our get togethers when the weather cools off.

That would be great Jeremy, BTW looking at page what type of roll bar are you sporting? And do you have any issues with putting the seat back and top down? I am watching a couple of bars on ebay and still have not made up my mind. Issue is my car is based on an 81SC with 993 body and interior so I am not sure if 993 CAB bar will bolt in. From the looks of things I can not see much difference.

Todd,

WHICH 993 body do you have hung (I'm thinking turbo with 9/12 combo)?

What offset rims are you running on it? I've got a 993TT body hung on TB car. It currently has an expensive combo of Hollow Spoke TT's w/Mich Pilots, but its not what I want with the 3+ of spacers. I'd rather 3 piece with proper offset. I already have 18's on a TB car, so I can empathize with the ride....though I don't find 18's with 22/28 to bad.

As tails go on Cab's, I think yours is in the spirit of the car....not like its a 3.8RS with a banana hanging from it!

Again, quite sharp and with the smoother roads of FL should be a great ride. Black/black early conv in FL is hardcore isn't it. I'd think that outweigh the ride quality of 19's

Luke
The PO did the body kit but from what I can tell it is a decent fiberglass wide body replicated after the 993 turbo.

I also had the same issue with the wheels that came on the car (BTW are for sale in another post) in the rears the car was using a 3" spacer and 1" for the fronts. I am not sure of the exact offsets I have now but can check with the shop that did the ordering for me. For the rears I have a 5" outer lip and I think a 6.5" inner. The plan was to get rid of the spacers completly but I ended up adding a 1" spacer in the rear to bring the tire to the edge of the fender (Just looks bad ass this way)

FYR
From what I was told by the shop in Tampa is AVUS is undergoing some changes and is selling off all there inventory. I was able to pickup each wheel for $600 which is a steal for 3pcs rims.

PM me if you want to contact the shop I used.

Those wheels are way to big and give the car an ugly ride height. All real sports cars are slammed.
