Unpluging speedometer cable from tranny

I am getting the 78SC ready for my first engine drop, which will be done with tranny+motor, using an ATV jack. I have pretty much everything done, except how do I disconnect the speedometer cable from the tranny? What tool should I use? It is an electronic cable, since the car is a 78.

TIA

Aurel

The cable connects where the shift coupler is. It is a plastic clip. It pulls apart. Or you can pull the sensor off the side of the passenger side of the tranny.

OK, thanks. The motor is now lowered, so far so good, but I have to remove the rear bumper to get the clearance. Patience...

Remember to remove fabric strap holding clutch cable off throttle bell crank on transmission. Also undo the lower hose clamps securing fabric hoses linking heater box outlets to heater valves. Also pull starter cable (disconnect battery ground first) and transmission to body flat braided ground strap.

Done!

All went well, except I forgot a gas line...It looks like it needed replacement anyways.

And here is where the motor will spend the winter and be rebuilt:

Aurel,
I'll be in holmdel for most of December. I'm going to swing by and steal something

No Joke, I would like to see how much progress you have made by then.

No problem, neighbor. The to do list is very long, and I am planning on taking my time:
- headstuds
- Valve guides
- Carrera tensioner
- Differential bearing
- 1st and 2nd syncro rings

Etc, etc...
By X-mas, I may have the motor appart. Send me a PM when you will be around.

Aurel
