Anyone using Falken Azenis Rt615's

I just orded a set of Falken Azenis Rt615's and am looking for some potential "expect this" kind of stuff. Grassroots Motorsports rated them the best street tire for auto-X, and I've also read unsubstantiated claims that the rubber compound is similar to that of the Toyo RA-1, but with a higher wear rating.

Anyone care to comment?

I've used them for ST class autox on 3 subarus. Great tire, if they have your size. They last well on the street and compare well to the Bridgestone RE-01R, which has gained support for its recent $100 rebates and slightly better adhesion. I also run RA-1 tires, which I would say has more grip and less life.

Good to know. Just from the specs and reviews, the Rt615's seem to have the best combination of street/track/price. Any comments on wet performance? Some have said it's great, some have said it's horrible.

I like the RA-1 in the wet. Haven't driven the RE-01R in the wet. The Rt615 is fine at full tread and gets steadily worse as it wears. Personally, I would buy the RE-01R, if you are worried about wet weather and want great track performance.

I don't really care, cuz I've driven 100+mph on bald Victoracers in pouring rain.

RT 615s are awsome tires the first half of their life. They gradually lose grip as they go through alot of heat cycles. Then they are mearly good tires. I currently have RE01Rs which I marginally perfer over the azenis and are a good deal if you catch them on sale/rebate. The seem to be handeling the cycling better........

The wet grip of the RE01rs is astonishing, however the RT615s is not all that bad considering the minimum void tread pattern.......

The RT615s are EXTREMELY popular with the miata crowd.

Not really worried about wet weather (southern California). I just don't want to get caught "out in the rain", for lack of a better coloquialism.

Derek, I have the RT-615's on my 996 and have been extremely satisfied with them. Very grippy tires, and from what I experienced at the track, they break away very progressively when you begin to reach their grip limits - they are easy to drive.

As for rain, I drove during the rain showers we had a few weeks ago and they seemed fine (but I never, ever push it in the rain. I just cruise.)

I think you'll be pleased with your tire choice.
