Harry,
No. The problem is I can't get much of anything up there. I do have one or two "tools" I have yet to try that seem promising. I'll get back on it this afternoon and report. |
Frustrating!
What next? Maybe feeding a strong wire like a coat hanger around the plunger/spring, make at into a full loop and yank it sideways? |
SUCCESS AT LAST!
I want to thank the academy, my family, all my...oops, wrong speech! I was finally able to fit the "tool" shown here in the tiny gap. If you ever did any periodical or brochure layouts in the pre computer age, you will recognize the Pica Pole, as it was known. It is a flat steel rule that is flexible due to its extreme thinness (maybe 1 mm) yet rigid in the other plane. I was able to slide it in from the edge of the lid over to the plunger, hit the plunger a few times to help loosen it. Finally I wedged a chisel in the space, which was by then opened a little more. A little more fiddling and viola! (get it...fiddling/viola?) Success! Seriously, thanks to all, especially Gunter, and whoever it was who in another thread suggested placing masking tape over the catch hole and observing where the plunger breaks it in order to correctly locate it. Worked Great. Now back to my decel valve, which is what I was working on before I was so rudely interupted.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1192215236.jpg |
