Confession first: I did not label the wires on the power window switches, assuming that the Bentley manual would have sufficient directions for an electrical id10t such as me; no such luck. The manual does say which wires go to which posts, numbered 1-5. I assumed that they ran clockwise, from the top, although I found another post on this BBS that indicated the column of three are, in descending order 3; 1 & 4 and the column of 2, again in descending order, are 2 & 5. Is that the correct order? Also, how do I confirm that I did not blow the relay when I had the switches wired incorrectly? I know I tripped the fuse. Also, I noticed a bit of a discrepancy between the Bentley manual on page 960-6 and page 970-42. The schematic on page 970-42 matches my car while the matrix on page 960-6 makes no mention of the double red/blue and double brown wires. (minor attempt at defending my ineptitude)
Please help, I really need to drive this thing...too many nagging problems this week with too little knowledge to fix them. The switches were working perfectly before I tore into the door to try and fix a problem wih the door lock (failed on that count as well). ![]() The car is an '86 coupe. Thanks again. ![]() ![]() |
