Are Ferodo Pads Worth It?

Just spent the morning removing the rotors on '74 911 (holy mackerel, these calipers are heavy!) to get them turned, and want to change pads. Immediately went to Pelican and found info on Ferodo; $140 set? Is it worth it?

Thanks for any help...

And yes, everything else is original equipment...and no, I don't track the car; just need it to get me through LA traffic safely...

...should I get calipers that weigh less than Queen Latifa?

You can buy Mintex from Pelican for around $20 per axle. They are great pads - low dust and low noise plus good stopping power.

I would put my money in new rotors instead of turning you old ones.

I would 2nd the Hawk pads. I replaced my old pads that left a lot of dust with Hawk HPS pads. The are rated for aggresive street/occasional autocross use and I so far am very happy with them. Much less dust and with new Ate discs and SS brake lines feel great. I experieced a softer pedal initially but now are feeling right. Looked at Ferodo and seem to have a good rep. but as you say are more expensive. If you'd like more feedback on Hawk, PM me.

Several UK 911 owners run Ferodo DS3000s, myself included.

I've not driven my 911 on nanything other than the OE pads and the Ferodos. The Ferodos are a massive improvement, with virtually no downsides.

If you don't want to go to DS3000 there is the alternative, slightly lower friction DS2500.
