Recomended lube for heater cables?

I am replacing the plastic cable housing for the wire that goes from my automatic heater to the butterfly valves. The old ones were all gummed up with old grease.

Does anyone have a proven lube that won't gum up my new cable housings?

Thanks,
Chuck

Those cables get used so rarely and the movement is so slight, I would (did)
install them dry to keep them from collecting dirt/grime.
