Buying tires with the falling dollar

I have to get tires yesterday. I am not Loyal to any brand. I need good road tires. I have been driving on Falkens for 6 years now and have no complaints but I was wondering who has the best tires for the buck today. Any recent experience out there?

A lot depends on size...15, 16, 17?

I'm running 17's on my 87 Carrera and have had good luck with Kuhmo's for everyday driving....I think they were $450 or so a set from Tire Rack. Only real complaint is the 711 Ecsta seem to wear pretty quickly if you have a lot of negative camber cranked in.

Thanks,
I have just started my search and am not finding a big difference in the prices from last time I bought them. The 255/40 zr17 Falken 452's I was running on the rear are $120.00 per tire at Discount Tire Direct with free shipping.
I was thinking the currencies had me screwed but the American tires are still twice the price.

if you have a lot of neg camber, evrything wear quick. In fact, if you look at the thread wear on the tire, Kumho has pretty high rate, last longer.

I just had a set of Fusion ZRI's put on the car. It's my first set of new rubber on the car, so I can only compare them to the 5 or 6 year old Bridgestone re71's that were there. These things stick and ride great. For the money I would look into these. They come in all our sizes as well, which in itself is getting rare, from what I can tell. Full set installed for under $450.00 US. It was also my first experience with Tire Rack, those guys rule, They actually called after I placed my order to confirm size, I had actually ordered the wrong front size by accident. The fusions have a rock hard sidewall and look great too.
