Show me some non Guards Red-Red cars!
Looking to see some other red's for comparison before I paint my sc, I am moving towards Polo red-regardless of the fact that it would be a "non origional" color, -I don't care about that kind of concern, I know I want red, but maybe not guards

the problem is that for the threads that we start with the "show me your..." a search doesnt help because we generally post pics and not text, IE-for the 8 ways I tried searching this, 0 came up. I don't see a way to search by thread title? -maybe I'll try to see if there is an advanced setting?

I'm not sure exactly what colour my car is. The paint code is 018 tangerine, but that's long gone. A PO did a cheapo paint job on it. I've seen a few other similar reds in cars of the same period (pre-74). I think this shade of red suits the old cars better than guards red, and along the same lines I think this colour would look dull on the later cars.
Here's a pic next to a guards red 930, to help illustrate the difference: ![]()

I went through the same process, I was seeing red in my sleep there are so many shades of red.
I settled on PERU RED. I almost went with Carmine though. They are both beautiful colors. I think I settled on Peru because it was a stock color for my year and Carmine was stock for a later year. ![]() ![]() |

Guys that's perfect,
Carmine Red it is. My car is an 81 targa, and I know Carmine was not avail at that time, but I really don't care, I really like this color, and the Peru ,-but the Carmine is exactly what I had in the back of my mind as the right shade. Thanks! -car should be ready for paint within a week, and I hope to have it done in November -Adam |

Carmine is awesome! True red, without the "orangishness" of Guards Red.
