Turbo oil pump question

I have an oil pump from my 79 930. The case has the removable sump and screen. The oil pump has a solid round piece with a hole in the bottom. No screen.

I am thinking of using a later case (86) that does not have a removable sump plate.

Can I still use this pump.

I have a turbo pump with a screen pickup, but the pump is in bad shape. Is the tube just pressed into the pump. Can I pull it out and switch it with the other pump ?

Thanks

Ed

Hi Ed.. I had the same problem. I don't think there is a way to use the early turbo pump (without the screen) in a Carrera case. I think the pickup tube is epoxied in like the early pumps so I would think some heat and it will come right out. You should be able to swap the pickup tubes and JB weld it in. If you end up not using the screen for the early turbo pump I'd buy it from you. Cheers
