Going to replace clutch cable do I need this too?
 

My clutch squeaks (not that big of a deal) and is pretty stiff it probably is time to change the clutch cable right? It's a 79 SC and I'm sure the original.
Reading a couple posts guys were saying it made a lot of differrence and I'd hate to get stranded when it goes POP!
Do I need to replace the $35 clutch spring? Is this what people call the helper spring? I see it listed for the Turbo, same for the SC?

The clutch helper spring is pretty easy to replace...unless you've got some rust holding it to the pin like I did (PITA). I'd change the bushings, too. You might want to look at your pedal assembly while your at it. No personal experience, but I understand the pedal bushings wear out and can cause issues.

Is it just the one bushing? Either bronze or plastic?

I see that the spring is unavailable, kinda unsure if I need to replace. Any thoughts, would like to order these parts today.

I would also recommend rebuilding the pedal cluster. I used the wevo bronze set, cause that is what the PO had bought and never put in.
Regarding the omega spring, I would check the bearings around the pin, mine were obviously crushed with pieces missing.

+ one on rebuilding the pedal assembly. Its very common for the roll pin down at the pedal to shear off, dropping your clutch pedal to the floor. The big spring at the pedal is pretty robust, so it should be ok. The omegas get a little worn. New cable, rebuild pedal assembly with bronze bushings, and new omega, and you should have no problems.

Read the tech article from our host on clutch cable install. I also recommend the 101 projects book. The most difficult part was getting the helper spring off. I used my dremmel and cut it off.
