Your seats are chocolate, but your dash, knee pads and door top trim look like tobacco.

Yes, chocolate is the term for that brown.

I have a 1984 dealer book that has samples of leather, cloth, etc. I'm not sure what changed from '83 to '84, but in this book the sample of 'brown' leather is a very dark color. What appears to match your seats the closeset is called 'Grey Beige.'

That's brown at the top. The grey beige looks a lot closer in natural light.

The brown color used in 1983 was Cadbury brown, not chocolate. The color code is 4RB. The reason the seats look different from the rest of the interior pieces is beacause the seats are leather and the dash is leatherette (vinyl.) The same color was used in 1984. The colors in my sample book look a little darker than your picture, although perhaps that's just beacuse of the flash.

Prior to 1983, a different brown was used. It was called "Brown" and there were two different color codes, depending upon the year, 3NG and 40A .

Most of the suppliers will not have sources for the exact material that Porsche used, but something "close."
