Rota Fox feedback thread (let's try to keep it objective, ok?)
Thinking of getting some of the Rota Foxes either in the RSR finish or the non-flat black finish and was wondering what experiences were with these. I know there was a lot of pre-shipment excitement and speculation about these so I am looking for objective feedback from owners that have these rims on their car.

I have put approximately 550 miles on my Rota Fox 17" wheels and 475 of those miles were from Fort Collins, CO to Palmer Lake (I-25) and then up into the mountains, over Trail Ridge Road (12,183') and down into the Winter Park area. From there to Walden, CO and down the Poudre Canyon to Fort Collins. The RMRPCA "Rollercoster Tour" was a great test for my new tires and wheels. Lots and lots of twisties and some high speed driving too...but never over the speed limit...of course. ;)
This is not a scientific test of these wheels or anything close to track or AutoXing, but I loved the ride and the increased grip because of the wider wheels/tires, (6s and 7s, to 7.5 and 9s). I will AutoX them next spring and I have no problem with this kind of use for the Rotas. If I ever track the car, I would not even use the OEM Fuchs as they are 20 years old and I would want wheels that were made with todays technology and strength. I would not use the Rotas either as I feel they are wheels made for non track use. JMO. One thing to remember, there is less tire height because you have larger diameter wheels, so less tire to cushion the ride. I didn't notice that much difference and really don't care as I love the feel of the road anyway. The wheels performed as I expected, but I never have worried about the quality of the product. I wanted 7s and 9s X 17" Fuchs and this was the best (only) way to go at this time. I kept the OEM Fuchs in case I ever sell the car (87, Carrera) as I will keep the Rota Fox 17s to put on my next Porsche, (looking for a 1995, 993 with Midnight Blue and Cashmere). The wheels look fantastic and really make the car look great too! But most of all I trust the wheels and after the Rollercoaster Tour, I don't even think about them...I just :D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1192917079.jpg |
