Plug it in and move the float up and down and see if the needle on the gauge moves.

i used the up-graded rubber gasket instead of cork for the install. It'll throw off the reading slightly.

I used an ohm meter between"G" and ground. I saw the resistance go up and down by turning the sender up and down.

Check resistance as mentioned above.
No need to 'get to the float'. Rock/rotate the tube. The float should move inside the tube and you will see the results. If it's (float) stuck ...you have additional problems. ![]()
