The history of SSI
I'm trying to find out more information about the history of SSI before they sold to Dansk. Who was the business owner? Where were the heat exchangers built? Does anyone remember a thread with this type of info? Or did anyone personally know the key players? It's pretty tough to search SSI History as you just find endless references to the parts themselves.

Thanks Paul! Those were the keywords I needed and I found a great link and then you ended up editing your post and posting the exact same one.
The reason I bring this up is because I recently purchased one of their quick release steering wheel pieces. If you haven't seen these, they are really cool. I had no idea that John made other parts besides the heat exchangers. I'm wondering if anyone has the story on these. How many were produced, when and why they didn't take off. Or did they and I just have never seen one... If anyone is a buddy with John, I'd love to hear the story. I found contact info, but he's older and retired. I don't want to bother him personally. Hey guys a little follow up to my post. The quick release hub pictured was not made by the SSI we all know and love. I found the patent info here. It's a Japanese built hub for circuit racing and invented by a man named Nari chin Iwata. My apologies for the misinformation.
In my research though I stumbled across an old post regarding "our" SSI building a muffler. John scrapped the plan to build the muffler and the reason stated in a previous email inquiry was that "priorities changed." Apparently there is an ad for the muffler in the December 2003 Excellence. If anyone has a copy of that issue, would they mind posting up a picture of that ad for posterity?
