DIY header coating?
I recently purchased some headers for my 3.0 for my project car that are in good shape. They are not rusty anywhere and the black finish appears to be sound with no flaking. But while I have them off the vehicle I was wondering if there is a do it yourself coating I can apply? I know ceramic or high temp powder coat would be the best but I'm also trying to control cost. I live in FL. so no road salt issues. I'm guessing there has to be something better than BBQ black that I can apply?

Jet hot, send them off, and you'll not be dissapointed. Sterling silver coat looks pretty close to chrome, and they even have a free re-coat warrenty. Not a DIY, but lifetime coating product.

Try Eastwood's high temperature silver exhaust paint, ~ $25 a can. It has worked great for me on several 911 exhaust efforts, including my racecar's headers. Looks good over time too. YMMV
