Tunnel hard lines for fuel

I need new fuel supply and return lines -- the long hard lines that go through the tunnel -- for an MFI car. The basic catalog search didn't turn up anything, so I spent the evening reading pages of threads related to hard fuel lines. In some threads the lines were described as either steel, hard plastic, or rubber. Unless I searched wrong, the part numbers listed didn't match up with what was in the PP part finder or were NLA. Seems the numbers have been superseded a few times.

If OEM parts aren't available, it seems the choice would be between braided Areoquip lines or DIY stainless steel pipes with barbs soldered on the ends.

Thanks for any information or advice!

I replaced the tunnel lines on my SC in 2006. The new ones are plastic and are one piece from the pump banjo to the exit of the firewall in back. I believe they used to be two piece and the change from one piece to two is where the super cession and confusion lies.

I did not take mine out or order the new parts (my cage builder did) but they were ordered through a place with PET and Porsche experience and they had to be ordered/reordered three times until we got the correct lines.

Then the project of putting them in the car....that's another story.

LM3929: 72 MFI, but I didn't see any of the tunnel lines in that year section of the parts catalog. An exact match (except for line diameter) probably isn't important since I'm moving the fuel pump to the front and the connecting hoses at the tank and engine ends will need to be improvised.

Chrisp: I think you're right about where the confusion comes in. I assumed that the original parts were different, but perhaps the replacements changed too. What fitting was on the ends of the single piece plastic pipe you used?
