Best Silver for a narrow-body 911

I'm getting ready to have my 1973.5 811 repainted. The original color is silver (936-3). I think I should keep it as original as possible, although the Audi Nimbus Grey and Slate Grey are pretty cool too. I'm wondering if there are any opinions about the best silver for the car. Pictures would be really welcomed. Also, are there any strong opinions about changing the color from silver to, say, slate or nimbus grey? Thanks! Mark

Cool!

Oh yeah. I had a beautiful 1987 Carrera Cabrio in that color. It had a burgundy interior. Very nice indeed. Any other suggestions out there, please? Thanks!

Mine was originally 6851-L (Silver Metallic), which was a special order silver and I really would like to know how it looked. In general, the silvers from that era appear to be much lighter then later silvers. Here are a few examples from the Early E Registry

My short wheelbase 1966 is painted in Green Granite which is a weird name for the color as it is a silver/gray. You should check it out, it looks amazing on my SUPER NARROW BODY which is what the early short wheelbase's are. They have ultra narrow flares.

Find a real fine grain German paint. The look of the finely ground metallic is not the look of today's bling paint.

PPG brand DBC line has some of the cleanest silvers, or any other metallic colors, their paints are a little expensive, but they are worth it. nothing like the right hue, value and chroma of a color to make any Porsche look it's best.

Mine - if it ever comes back - will be refinished in original 936 silver. No question.

There's an early car on here somewhere that's "Charcoal Gray Metallic" that I think is FAN-TAS-TIC looking. I don't know if it's a Porsche color, though.

I love my '83 that's "pewter metallic" 956, but if you're trying to stay period, you might want a single-stage paint.

I love solid colors on the longhoods but if I had one that was an original metallic like your silver metallic I think I would keep it that way. First off metallic paint really shows off the curves the way it reflects the light and keeping the car the original color will help it's resale value.
