1966 911 finally going back together

Hi all,

been awhile since I posted, working and moving so haven't had much time for the ole girl.

Finally finishing up with the scraping and por 15 and have the new parts from our host to put her back on the road.. its been TWO years.. I never would have guessed it would have taken this long.. but life has a funny way of getting in the way.. haha..

Here are some pics from yesterday. she is a 1965 build 911. I started with the spring plate bushings then removed the rest and took the engine area and everything from the torsion tube back to metal..

I'll keep in touch more often as to her progress..

Here is one of her before she was taken off the road... plan is to have her sit lower and go to a different finish on the wheels..

2 years...man, I thought 6 months was an eternity, and I work on the car every day.

Looks good! What's up next?

Nice work David. That is an extremely nice looking rear seat pan area. Do I recognize the glossy finish of POR-15?

You may want to hit that with some black Wurth Schutz for originality, sound-deadening and rock-chip purposes. Also a good time to replace the clutch cable, they are very inexpensive "while you are in there" and of course all the rubber boots on the various linkages.

66 911

Hi,

Thank you. Yes as I was working yesterday I noticed the clutch cable has some smoothness on one strand, going to order this week. I have the various boots you mention. Yes POR 15'd... I am getting re-acquainted with her this week, been really busy with work and family, both good things. Anxious to get the 911 back on the road. I plan to finish the rear of the car and do an alignment here at the house then rebuild the front end (not to the extent of the rear though, haha) then find a shop locally to get the alignment spot on.

I will keep you all posted as she goes back...

thanks,

david

Front alignment will be easy!

(An inside Joke between me and David. . . his car is of a vintage that doesn't have adjustable strut plates at the top)

Consider the camber modifications, search here for more info for doing this for SWB.
