Stuck drivers side mirror -'76 911S
The outside mirror control switch will not move the driver side glass mirror in my 1976 911S. When you push the button in all four directions, you can hear one tic sound indicating the electric is working, but the glass appears to be stuck. In the few months I have owned the car, it worked briefly in all directions, but then stopped suddenly. The fuse is good, the glass will move manually when you push on it, and the heating element in the glass works. Again, you can hear thew tic sound when you move the switch. I have also gently tapped the mirror and the inside door panel near the mirror.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Can I spray silicon behind the mirror? Will this do more damage than good? I like everything that is functional to work on this car and truly enjoy the fun I get from ownership. Thanks all. JOHN |

Can you manually gently push the glass outward to the extent of its travel or inward to the opposite extent? Then try the switch again. Or try this while the switch is engaged. I did this years ago w/ a stuck mirror from a 944 and it worked.
