Oil line connector question.

I am swapping my 1969 2.0T engine for a 1972 2.4T. I have noticed that the connectors for the long oil line (which runs from the oil tank side to the LH side of the engine) on the 2.4T is bigger than on my 2.0T and therefore will not screw onto the oil tank. I have measured the nuts and they are 36mm A/F and 30mm A/F. Can I get a adapter to reduce the size or do I have to replace the oil line (which means removing the heat exchangers)?

Anyone help with this please?

Mike

Just a guess, as I have never compared the return line on a 2.0 to that on a 2.4, but it seems to me that swapping the line may not be possible. The only two oil return lines I've had experience with are on the 2.4 and 3.0, which are identical on my cars (3.0 has SSI's and therefor early style oil return). On these lines, both ends are the same size. So if the 2.4 oil line does not fit your tank, and you want to replace it with the 2.0 line that does, that 2.0 line may not fit the hole is the 2.4 case. If that proves to be the case, then you might be better off looking for an adapter to put in at the tank end. These metric adapters are darn near impossible to find. You may try Chuck Moreland at Elephant racing; he helped me out with some oddball adapters on a kind of weird oil cooler install I did on my '72. If not there, MOCAL (BAT, or British American Transfer) has an array of adapters, but most of theirs are metric to AN. Good luck.
