Value of 2.2 911T motor (Rebuilt)

Hello

Iam checking on what do you guys think the value of this motor is, or what I can sell it for....

Runs really strong, no issues, excellent condition

Is it a stock rebuild. What exactly was done to it? Do you have a receipt(s) to prove it. I would think this would be important in determining a price. Also, how many miles when rebuilt and how many since the rebuild? My guess for a stock fully rebuilt 2.2 would be about $6,000.00. Anybody else?

Yes we have receipt for it, It is my brothers motor off his '70 911T.

It has about 40K on the rebuilt, I can double check all this...

$3K.... tops....

I think this pricing is correct in the "any used motor is a core motor until proven otherwise" way of thinking. The $6K figure would be more for a documented, freshly rebuilt, proven "no issues", engine, complete and ready to drop in. Yours seems to be somewhere in between. With 40K miles, it is not "fresh" anymore, and unless you have documentation that shows the extent of the rebuild, with current compression and leakdown tests, and the engine is in the car and can be seen running and actually test-driven by a prospective buyer, you will be hard-pressed to get much more than "core" price for it.

A 2.2T engine is not all that desireable to anyone other than an owner of a stock '70-71T who needs a replacement stock engine for some reason. If the rebuild included some higher performance parts (S pistons, cams, heads) and the documentation shows that, it might be worth a bit more.

My $.02,
TT

Thank you for the info, when my brother is ready to sell it, we will post a video of the car running/idling etc..

I will also get the spec sheet so I can post what was done to the engine...

It may have some performance parts but not sure, it is much quicker than my stock 71 T w/PMO carbs/MSD/SSI/Monty...

Here are some pics of motor / car

Well, my point was that is simply not a sought after engine. Not so much that its not WORTH more, you're just going to to a hard time selling it for more when for $6K you can get a very nice 3.2 or for $7-8K a nice 3.6.

We are not trying to get 6K for it. :) Someone responded that it may fetch 6K, but we know it is not going to fetch 6K..

Someone suggested 3K I think this is more realistic, since it has webers and SSI.
