My car reads low indicated pressure and I'm trying to figure out if its simply the sender itself. The gauge reads 1.5- 1 bar at hot idle and normal throughout the range but never rises above 3.5 bar. Even at 2500 rpm it reads approx 3 bar.

IMHO - 1 bar hot at idle is good, I put in the updated oil line restrictors and have 1 bar hot at idle... when driving I get I think somewhere between 3 and 4 bar hot... it depends on rpm...I'll try and remember to get better readings tomorrow... I can't get my oil very hot between work and home. previous to the complete top end with restrictors I was below 1 bar at hot idle... could also be the my idle is a bit low... indicates 800 should be 880.. I haven't been able to figure out how to reset it.... also I use OEM filter and M1 15-50 with an oil improver. Next I'll use BP 20-50.

Check the oil level in the tank at idle when the motor is warm. You may be simply low on oil. With no leaks, I think the only way to lose pressure is past the rings, which I believe would be pretty obvious.

I have an 89 and run the same oil. At idle I have 1 to 1.5, but I see that go up to 4.5. Perhaps you have a gauge or sensor problem?

How about when the engine is cold, does it hit 5 bar then?

My 87 idles between 1 and 1.5 bar when hot and 3.75 bar on the highway with Delo 14w50 (not the new SM). Both were a little higher when I ran 20w50 Kendall.

today better observation and hopefully memory..

last night the temp. was probably down to 50 or so...
started cold - 3.5 maybe more bar at high idle... when back to lower idle was 3.1 bar - that takes about 1 minute or so.
as the oil got hotter approaching the fist mark.. 180F the low idle got closer to 1 bar...but was always above 1 bar and 2 bar or more most of the way to warm up.... I never got it to 180F
when cold it seemed like it pined the gauge at 3-4000 rpm...
