CV JOINT width for 71T 901 transmission

While I was installing my complete axel on driver side. I noticed that the CV JOINTS are a little thinner than my original CV Joints. I mean the width is thinner. Also I can't use the moon plates because around the bolt holes is S shape pattern that caps the CV joint together. I guess I could go get washers and use my schnoor washers on top, but now I'm thinking this axel has the wrong CV joints for my car.

I bought these half shaft axels from ***************, sorry PP. I guess i'm regretting it now.

So does anyone know if I got the right part. And my solution is just to get some washers as thick as my moon plates?

Thanks

mh

Maybe I can help. I just dropped this '71 2.2 with 901 last week. I can photo and measure any feature if that helps. Let me know.

Looks like you have the same set up as me. The right half shaft is the original. I have that one. The left one looks like you bought it at the same place I did.

So I guess the CV JOINTs width although same size diameter is ok?

what did you use to replace your moonplates, if you could not use them on your left setup?

Nice car.

I wouldn't leave off the washers. Source the correct ones and trade. Here are my bolts (M10x 48 Driver side & M10x 56) & washers ...

Thanks,

thats the same as what i have now.

I need to find the 48mm bolts. Where did you get your moon washers? PP?

The bolts on your passenger side I believe are 10x55mm

Good luck on the engine restoration.
