If I remove this tail will the decklid have holes in it?
If I remove this tail will the decklid have holes in it? If so has anyone filled them with some type of plug (maybe painted the plugs body color)?
Thankshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1194024757.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1194024778.jpg |
There will be holes. And you will need the stock grill also. Might be easier to leave it on that lid, and get another that has no holes and a grill. Then will have 2 "outfits".

Oh yes, five holes, about the diameter of a pencil eraser. I removed mine and filled the holes with button sized black plastic plugs. Looks OK. Also, the gasket around the bottom of the wing left ripple marks in the deck lid paint.

Yes there will be holes. My PO removed the wing and welded small plates over the holes and then welded them or used bondo. Looks like shirt. I would do what Jim said.

When looking for my first Porsche purchase, I noticed on a car I was looking at that there were what looked to be holes filled in. I asked the seller what was that and he had no idea, but I did. Needless to say I did not purchase that car.
As the others have said, there will be holes. +1 what Jim said! |
That's a nice tail from the shot. Is that a Weissach Coupe? If it is, that's a special tail.

Thanks for the replies. Another lid is the best way to go. I am trying to stick to a budget (i.e. not overwhelm the wife with additional costs right out of the gate) and really prefer the line of a 911 without a tail.
York - do you have any pics.? Oneblueyedog - It's just a Platinum Metallic 82 SC not a Weissach. -Joe |
Joe,
I will look, if not I will take some tomorrow. |
If you are interested in selling the decklid and tail, I might be interested. Where in NJ are you located?
