'84 Tach Issues...
NH Speedo, Palo Alto Speedo, 1 on the shelf already rebuilt ready to go at PartsHeaven, other?
Needle's cutting in / out (going to 0), and when it IS working is 3/4 to 7/8 or so of actual RPMs (indicated 5k rpm at 6k on dyno, normal 3k rpms at ~75mph is now 2500, etc.). Tap the bezel glass & usually pops back to life from 0. Tapping the glass is making the fuel level needle drop a touch as well... send both at the same time, or just wait until it goes? I watch the trip odo, fill before 350-400 miles, rather than waiting for the light to trigger. Thanks!

Here are my 2 cents:
- If you want to keep your Tach NH Speedo is the place to go. They seem to do great work and have fast turn-arounds. They do a full rebuilt and you then might want to send in all your gauges to look as nice as the tach ![]() - If you just want a good working tach I would go with Parts Heaven. They have fair prices and Spencer is a really nice guy to deal with. I bought one there a while ago for my Targa and it was as advertised albeit used. - Some say turn-around times are unpredictable with Palo Alto - do a search here. So if you use them get a commitment and some leverage (as tough as that might be if you are not local) - Also post a wanted ad in the classified section here. Sometimes you'll find a good deal. By the way, if you end up buying a good used one I would be interested in your bad one for a project. I have a bench-tester that would look cool with a tachometer. I would take it apart and try to fix it. While that would mess it up cosmetically it would still be O.K. for me..... let me know. Ingo

FYI, PH was $225 & they want my old core. NH ballparked $150, PA ballparked $200, and I did ask about turnaround time with PA, they mentioned 1 week.
If the turn signal indicators weren't in there, I'd probably just go Autometer Pro / Sport Comp on it, and rig a clock-replacing / retina-searing shift light kit in there.

That sounds like NH hands down to me..... they do nice work and are very fast. Still check Ebay and the classifieds here. I would have guessed more like 100$ for a good used one.

I just had all my instruments and clock checked out at NH Speedo. The speedo was updated with new mileage gear(preventative maintenance) and the tach dampened as it was going crazy between shifts and new dial put in to replace faded one. Glass on fuel gauge was changed out because it was delaminating. Turn around time was less than a week. They did a great job.
