running high

just had a blast around the track with a 1979 911 sc...it did a great job, but...
after entering the pitlane the rpm would not get any lower than 2000 rpm... after letting it run (idle at 2000) for aprox 10 min. it shut it down. ate lunch..came back.. and voila it was working great again...
could this be heat related..the gauge was perfectly in the middle ???

any tips would be great

Joran,

The only thing that I could think of that would keep your vehicle at a high idle would be the deceleration valve, auxiliary air regulator or the cold start valve (possibly). Any one of these items could have an effect on your idle. It also could be a vacuum hose leak.

You may have a loose connection on the auxiliary regulator terminal, or it could be going bad. You could also have a vacuume hose with a crack in it.

Steve

You may need to investigate
