Can't bypass ICV to cure hunting idle
 

Well the hunting idle is back after a short while of absence. This time it happens even when the car is warm! Not only that, but trying to bypass the icv with the test points does not work, the idle continues to hunt. I've turned the base idle screw all the way down to minimize it.

I removed and cleaned the icv the other day. Just now with the key on i checked it and it vibrates consistently. I am going to attempt to clean the o2 sensor with contact cleaner.

I just unplugged the icv electrical connection. Same problem with the idle. So i've ruled out the icv.

I mention the same thing on every hunting idle thread I see. Establish a known good CO mixture setting before you do anything else. It should be measured with a gas analyzer. If you don't do this, you can spend months chasing your tail.

after pinching the icv air hose, the idle settled... so i figured it HAS to be the icv again even though i just cleaned it. sure enough it was. It was sticking again. I recleaned and lubed it, and this time when i put it back together i twisted the valve into the housing checking for free movement of the valve. I found a spot where everything was ok. Apparently the housing might be a little skewed. I will still get gas analysis.
