Little Porsches
Since I've been a member of this fine group, I haven't seen much posted on Porsche models.
It seems some P-car enthusiasts have more money invested in their model collection than their actual car!! Personally, I only have a few... 356's and early 911's and a Boxster. But recently I bought what I thought was the nicest model I've ever seen. It's a 1:18 Porsche 917K in Gulf colors. Made by AutoArt, this little jewel is a beauty! Check out the Dec/00 Panorama for a good article on Porsche models. There is some amazing stuff out there. ------------------ Regards, Doug '81 SC Coupe |

A friend of mine - actually the dude who got me interested in Porsche and the 911 - gave me a Franklin mint version of my car. It's amazing! Very, very detailed - like, practically everything you would find on your own car is represented on the model. It's in my china cabinet and is my most prized model.
I have a few Maistos as well, just the usual $5-$10 kind you'll find on sale in the toy store. They're fun. I have a nice 993 cab, and an '89 Speedster, which is cool. I just recently bought a real Revell model to build - an '88 Turbo. Been a while since I got into modelbuilding but I remember. It'll be fun. ------------------ Mark Szabo 1986 911 Targa 3.2 1987 Escort 5-speed 1.9 The Porsche Owners Gallery |

I would love to find a model of my 77 Targa, but i have yet to find one, even asked at a model store(here in Canada) Nothing. If anyone knows where I can find one that resembles a 77 Targa let me know.

I have seen a Revelle or Monogram model of an early '80s turbo targa. It is pictured in black on the box. Most hobby shops would probably let you go over their catalogues. Good hunting! I got back into a few kits and metal display models after my kids learned not to touch. They include a 356C, 904, RSR, SC cab., 934, 993, 996, 959, 914, 928 and an Indy Porsche. Yeah, its a sickness. Fortunately the old E in the garage keeps me from spending more money on ones I can't drive. |

I'd really like to have a model of a 70 911 or at least an early 69-73 that isn't an RS or RSR. Any leads on that?

Check this site out for some nice 911 models... http://www.autofanatics.com/models.html ...mostly smaller scale (1:87 and 1:43, but you can always find larger scales at hobby shops, Toys R Us, Kay Bee Toys, etc.) Maisto and Burago have some nice (not the best, but nice) 1:18 and 1:24 scale 911's.

If you are looking for models of older Porsches, I would defenitely recommend ebay.
My 72 911 Targa have the 74-89 look, and a while ago I came across an UNASSEMBLED 80's Carrera Targa by Revell, which was exactly what I was looking for! ![]() I had to get the 16" Fuchs wheels from one of my other Porsche models, to get a 100% 1/24 replica of my car. It is now correct down to the colour of the shocks, and the numbers/letters on the licence plate (typeface Ariel, font size 6!) ![]() The model now occationally sits on the dashboard and makes a cool addition when I attend club meetings - draws a lot of attention! ------------------ 1972 911S Targa ************************ My project! |
