Lowered - opinions on height

Last project I had from the original 101 that I started with, well I did it today. I was shooting for Euro plus/minus a few mm's. I ended up with 25 in the rear and 25 1/4 up front. It sure does drive better now, never felt quite right at US spec.

It looks good. And as long as it handles well & doesn't ground out on driveways & speedbumbs too often, then you're set. Note that a height change will alter your alignment, so that should be at the top of your 'to do's'.

Nope, doesn't ground out at all, have not gone over any speedbumps yet, however my driveway is pretty big curb. As far as the alignment, I did that as well today, buddy has an alignment machine at his shop. Almost nothing had to be changed, little bit of camber up front.

Looks good. I just redid my whole suspension and lowered the front a little. Guy that did the alignment said I wouldn't need the bump steer kit so I never put it on. Drives great. I think mines a little higher in the front than yours. Also a Targa....can't lower them too much or it looks silly. I'll post photos when I get a sunny day to take some.

Please do, I'm still searching the archives for lowered targa photos. I just did this on a whim today, woke up and was bored.

Gosh, I am 24/23.5 with 205/55-15 tires with my Targa. I think it looks ok...

Mine is at 25 F/ 24.5 R. I still want to raise it up about 1/4" more.

You want to raise the rear 1/4? I ask because I think want to do the same thing, it's so easy to change after all.

Yeah, I feel like the shocks don't have enough travel. Plus I'm getting rubbing on the front left wheel well.

Black Targa At The Falls.....

With Yokohoma Advan-032R tires, 205/16 (F) and 225/16 (R), the ride height is 24.5"/24.0" (F/R). These tires are smaller in dimensions compared to tires like Dunlop Sport with same spec. that give me a 25"/24.5" ride height. So tire selection should be considered in your ride height choice.

Here's mine recently lowered a little. I wouldn't go any lower on a Targa.

From a couple of years ago for comparison:

I'm going to go 1/2" higher in the rear I think, it's an hours worth of work at this point.

I don't have height measurements, but here is a before and after pic.

In 4x4 mode with 6s up front and 7s in the rear.

Lowered with 7s up front and 9s in the rear.

Here's mine.
I accidentally bought 205/50 series tires for the front instead of 205/55s, so I plan to drop the back a bit to get rid of the rake. I like them with some 'squat' in the rear, like arbita1's above.

Mine is a 77 w/ flares. You can do that with yours, find some old style window frames, pop out quarters, theyll fit right in, it will match the targa bar, looks great.
