Carreara clone back date of SC what is involved?
I have the chance to get a 1976 911 body that has had SC lares put on it. It is a very nice rolling chassis and I'm thinking an RS clone would be a nice project. Can anyone tell me what is involved?
I would most likely use Fiberglass front and rear bumpers. Any suggestions on who has the best deals on those? What is involved in getting those to fit a 76. I've heard I need to get a 73 and earlier long hood (already have one) and put that on the car. Does that necessitate changing the front apron to accept the long hood? What is involved there? Does anyone have a website where they documented a "back date" conversion like this? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

There are several spots to look at. TRE offers a hood that does not require any mod to the front end.

Ultimate Backdating Thread You guys on the mainland are so lucky. I can't even find a decent pair of steel early fenders anywhere. I have one on the way, but for some reason there doesn't seem to be any passenger side fenders left in the galaxy.

To the thread starter: I don't understand the approach to the "best" deal. the difference in price is not that great. But, you do often times (maybe more often than not when buying fiberglass) get what you pay for. That having been said, I have found Peter at Rennspeed to be very good at getting things out to me. He is the only one I have dealt with except TRE, which is also excellent. Maybe a tad more, but as I said.... Jack Olsen has RS parts and is happy. Others have liked GT Racing (Hank) and MA Shaw. There was a whole bunch of stuff on the classifieds here the other day. |

I finally got my right front fender from DC auto but it cost me dearly. Oh well, water under the bridge and at least I can move forward now which I am very excited about. ![]()
