Changing rear reflector

I severely damaged the rear reflector on my 1983 sc and need to change it. I have noticed that only the all red lens is available. Is there any difference between this one and the red with black lettering from an installation standpoint? Anyone done this that can shed some light on the subject?

You can't get the one with black lettering anymore, what a pisser! Boy did I try though.

Removal... On my 930 you simply inserted a flat screwdiver behind the mounting points and give it a twist. Make SURE you go only behind the mounting points, tha way you don't crack it and get a real nice decoration with the old one for your garage.

Putting the new one on, simply push firmly into the mounting holes being careful to only apply pressure on the reinforced bits.

You may have to bend it slightly to get the holes lined up with the pins when you first put it on, BE CAREFUL.

Some models had a screw mount. I don't think yours does though.

The black letters have been done for several years . I saw crap at Hershey last year for $500 . I located a black letter lens last year for a really good price and now have a red letter in perfect condition that I am going to list on E bay . Let me know if you have an interest.

They both install the same way. Little sheet metal clips go on the posts and push into the sheet metal of the car.

I did consider that option as well for my old SC. But I got lucky on E bay.
I finally got around to installing it last week. It's good to be original again.!!!!

Wow do I feel lucky! I found a black letter one in mint condition at "EASY" last year for about thirty bucks. It would have killed me to put a later model style on my old 930. Wonder what Bosch is going to discontinue next so I can buy 50 and hoard them for later sale, hehehe
