911 oil cooler seals motor in car

I have searched this subject and found many different opinions (typical of the internet). Can someone that has done this job answer this question with a straight answer.

The engine mounted oil cooler on my 1989 carrera is leaking from the seals. Can I replace the seals with the engine in the car?. Some have said the engine must be lowered or partially removed. Is theree any real labor savings by lowering or "partially" removing the engine. If the engine needs to come out, I will take it out. I would rathere not remove half the parts (injection, tin etc.), and then find I have to drop it anyways. If there are too many posts on this, please just P.m. me. I would like to get it done this weekend.

Thanks

Mark O.
