post brake bleed gear grind

After bleeding my brakes using the speed bleeder valves which seemed to work great. (took me about an hour and it was my first time) When I tried to put it in reverse, it grinded as if I didn't use the clutch at all! I had to pump the clutch about 10 times before I could get it in gear. After that it shifted fine. After the car sat for a week or so, I had to pump the clutch up again. What's going on here?

The clutch and brake systems have little or nothing to do with each other. I doubt the problem is related to your brake bleed procedure.

Don't the brakes and clutch use the same fluid reservoir? If so, wouldn't it be a good idea to bleed the clutch at the same time, especially if the reservoir was allowed to get low in the bleeding.

I don't recall ever seeing clutch bleed as a maintenance item...?
So, there could be air in the clutch line?
Makes sense...

I believe your clutch is actuated by a cable not hydraulics!

OOPS I just noticed you have a 3.2 in your 77 , do you have a G50?

OK thanks. I actually just replaced my clutch cable. But why does pumping it work to enable me to shift?
Oh, and its a stock 915 transmission.
