rear sway bar

AS the parts for my suspension pan are on the way I am getting ready for suspension upgrades. I am planning on replacing all the suspension bushings while the car is supported.

I have a factory rear sway bar(15mm) and will also install new bushings. I have found some for the body mount and end link. I can not find the push on bushing for the "link knob".

I searched some previous posts and found this part number: sway bar ball pin bushings (part# 901.343.782.00). Is this the one I need? Thanks for the replies.

PS. Anyone that has upgraded to a larger sway bar and wants to donate the old one(18-19mm) can email me. I would pay shipping

Thanks

Jamie

Yes, Jamie, that is the bushing for all pre-78 cars with the knob sticking out of the control arm!

Thanks Warren. I figured you would reply. BTW does the bushing just push on over the knob to hold the Sway bar in place? Seems like it would pop off(like on of mine has). Just curious if they can be secured in some manner.

Jamie,

After the bushing is installed in its' circular retainer at the end of the link, there is a 'lip' that the ball-stud pin must be pushed past to get it to snap in place. Even with silicone grease to aid the installation, neither step is an easy one with just hands ... after you have it started in the link a vise may help, if you are careful. Likewise once it is started on the ball-stud pin, a plastic mallet may help, with care.

Once installed, the forces are all more or less perpendicular or 'normal' to the axis of the pin, and there is almost no chance of the bushing popping off the pin!

I guess my missing bushing has gone the way of the other remaining 5, into several dried up little pieces. Time to hunt for replacements. Thanks again Warren.

I just installed the press-on bushings on my 72'. I used a 10" c-clamp from Home Depot to "squeeze" the little guy on. Position the clamp over the bushing (in the bar recepticle) and the backside of the control arm. A few turns and "snap" you're on.

Also, I'm guessing the urethane ones we get now will outlast the car (unlike the rubber ones).
