M&K Mufflers Rock!
Just installed 1 in 1 out stainless muffler in place of the stock unit on my '88 Carerra- FABULOUS!! Great sound compared to stock, and yes, it does look great!
The mounting hardware is the same quality as the muffler, so hopefully if ever needs to be replaced the pain in the arse removing the original stuff won't be an issue! ![]() ![]() ![]() Way to go Bill!! Matt |

I'll 2nd how happy I am with M&K, although I did the 2-to-1 when I went with SSI heat exchangers, I LOVE the sound (and after being at Rennsport all weekend it was nice to come
home to hear my car sound like a 911 should)

Looking to install SSI's on my 1983SC, what M&K do I go with?
2 in 1 out or 1 in 1 out? SSI's change what I would use? Can anyone tell me the what is the difference and why one over the other? Thanks,

SSIs = 2 in 1 out
Stock exchangers = 1 in 1 out Ditto on the M&K cans....you should hear them on my 996!

there's also the option when using SSIs of 2-in-2-out M&K and I thought about it. Apparently it's just a touch louder with the 2nd outlet, but I didn't care to go with the 2-out because of having to cut the right rear valance for the 2nd exhaust outlet. I wanted to keep the stock look, but M&K is so light and sounds so great one or two outlets.
I'll agree with Mike below, best performance/sound/driveability upgrade you can make. The SC now has much better throttle response, and it WANTS to rev, really woke up the car and probably wakes up the neighbors ;-) I would think it's on a par with a stock Carrera with no modifications although I've not driven one to feel the difference.

Mike:
Stock configuration for an SC is heat exchangers into a cat into the muffler. 1 in and 1 out when you convert to SSIs you dump all of that stuff and the SSIs become your heat exchangers and they connect directly to the muffler . It becomes 2 in and either 1 or 2 muffler outlets. Both sound great > but for me I chose the 2 in and 1 out. With the 1 out > no cutting the rear valance >and the sound is still great. My opinion > the SSI and M&K upgrade is the best bang fo rthe performance buck there is

2 out is quite a bit louder, more resonance. FWIW

Matt: Do you have a catalytic converter on your car? If so, how would you describe the sound of the M&K compared to stock?
