Euro/US ride height question

I am planning on lowering the front to the recommended 25 1/2" ground to fender height. Will I need to remove the strut spacer washer for this height or need to add the bump steer kit? I believe, the height before messing with it was 26". Any opinions? 81'SC

The bump steer is installed if the geometry of the steering rack is out of kilter due to the lowering of the car. Some can get away w/o it. It depends on the car. Be advised that when installing the kit, it can very easily stip out the threads in the rack. Do not use air tools and read the torque instructions carefully.

As to lowering. I did not have to remove the spacer, but many have. Start by adjusting the torsion bar settings to the height needed. Go for a drive, remeasure once settled out and if no clearance or bumping or noise is observered you are in good shape. Your proposed adjsutment is not that radical.

Just my experinece on my 83 and my friend's 74...

YMMV

I recently lowered my car. I was at about 26" all around and now I'm at 25.5" (F) and 25" (R). It looks much, much better. You are going to do the rear, too, right? That's where all the work is... The difference in appearance is a much more noticeable than the difference in performance. Good luck. Eric H 87 Targa
