Fuel Hose
As part of my exterior work on the engine (the mechanicals are in great shape) I am replacing all the fuel and vacumn hoses. Do I need the fancy cloth braided stuff or will fuel line hose from the local AutoZone work on a MFI 72 911?

I have the same car and bought stainless steel braided hose and clamps which are really not that expensive. Before that I bought fuel lines from the local parts store that worked great.

Kurt,
I wouldn't put unbranded, generic fuel hose from Autozone or anybody else. Name brand from a local industrial hose supply, where they sell good Airequip, Goodrich, etc. for trucks, etc. would be OK, but you can get the good German cloth-braided hose from a local VW, BMW, Mercedes or Porsche dealer, too, and it IS BETTER than what Autozone sells! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

Last fall I replaced the hose from my fuel pump to the tunnel with cloth braided from a local hose and hydraulics supplier. Look in your yellow pages under hydraulics.

I would go with SS braided for function and looks.
But cloth braided can be found at NAPA heavy equipment retailers. Normal NAPAs I do not think carry it, nor do the generic DIY auto retailers. |
